Atomic Habits By James Clear

The book, ‘Atomic Habits’ is a practically useful book which brings in an absolute mindset shift if you are new to building habits. The author takes us through the book in a systematic approach. He begins with explaining how little changes can make a difference in the long run, emphasizing the importance of 1% improvement every day. The way he portrays the connection between our identity and our habits pushes us towards working on self-awareness and self-growth.

The book addresses both building good habits, and breaking bad habits by using 4 laws of behaviour change. The practical frameworks given are easily implementable as they were built based on science without going against the grain of human nature. The insights given are very deep which changes the way we look at habits in our life. What I felt is the previous book that I have read, ‘The One Thing’ helps us in dealing with our professional life. ‘Atomic Habits’ helps us in dealing with our personal life.

If you apply the inputs given in this book to your personal life you can definitely build a strong foundation for your life. Finally, the chapters that I personally loved the most in this book are ‘ Motivation is overrated; Environment often matters more‘ and ‘The secret to self-control‘.
