Character Sketch

Are you fond of watching movies?

Have you ever connected with the characters in those stories? Why not? Everyone does.

There are some amazing characters with whom we will connect emotionally, there are some powerful characters who become our role models and there are some special characters with whom we would like to travel further.

Have you ever wondered about the fact ‘what’s the thing which attracts us towards those characters?’

It’s their character sketch. Yes, on the screen those characters are portrayed through their attitude, dialogues, intro songs, lifestyle, behavior and decisions they make. Off-screen they are given a detailed character sketch which defines them emotionally, mentally, physically and psychologically.

In the movies that we watch, our hero knows that he is a hero. He is aware of himself. That’s the reason why whenever a problem arises in his life, he will take it as a challenge, thrive through it and succeeds in solving his problems. But what happens with our own lives? Because of the lack of self-awareness, we consider all the little issues in our lives as problems and keep worrying about them instead of solving them. Let us stop doing this here. Let us become the hero of our lives. How? Simple… Sit and put down your own character sketch.

Define yourself. List down your likes and dislikes. Define your emotions, intelligence, your relations, your behaviour and everything about you. Not the people around you, you should know how you behave with your family, relatives, friends and strangers and how you react to different kinds of situations.

A man/woman can be a true man/woman only if their actions, words and intentions match. So compare your words, actions and intentions. Know yourself. Know your strengths and work on them to become even better. Know your weaknesses and try to limit them.

It’s not always about discovering yourself. It is also about building yourself. If you don’t like yourself, if you find so many flaws within you, don’t worry! First, define your old version. Aside define your new version. Recognize the changes that you need to go through to become the person that you desire to be. Don’t fear the change. Why because change is the only constant in this world. Don’t destroy yourself by being reluctant to change. Do not limit your progress towards a better life. You must give freedom to yourself to change. At the same time remember that there lies beauty in imperfections as well.

Well, why don’t we explore some characters here? Come, let us go on a ride with some of my favourite characters.

In the movie, Evaru

Adarsh Varma (Adivi Sesh), S/o of Vinay Varma is my favourite character. He has been asked by his father to accept the situation, fight it and never ever give up. And he did the same. Whatever he did is not revenge, it is his respect towards his father’s death. If someone can respect a death to this extent, how much we should value our existing life? Just think of it.

In the movie, Maara

I am in love with Paaru (Shradha Srinath) in this movie. She rejects a marriage proposal and leaves her home on the name of restoration. She isn’t clear about what she needs but she knows what she doesn’t want. She is very particular about the choices she makes.

‘Shall I marry a person, just because he looks good and earns money?’ –She questions the same to her grand maa. Her question makes a lot of sense, right? She needs a partner to her soul and her journey of finding her soulmate begins with saying no to a wrong person.

The beauty of the story is she hasn’t met with our hero Maara (Madhavan) at least once, but she falls in love with his character. She follows her soul and her love story isn’t less than a fairy tale.

(Guys, if you haven’t seen this movie just go and watch it. This musical fairytale is going to rejuvenate your soul.)

In the movie, Badrinath ki dulhaniya

Vaidehi Trivedi (Alia Bhatt) is an inspiring character. She leaves to abroad for Airhostess Training on the day of her marriage. She knows very well that what she is doing is against society and her own family. But she is not ready to compromise with her dreams and self-respect. Many times not taking any risk in life is a big risk.

If you consider all these Characters as fictional and not possible in reality, will go with some real stories.

In Mission Mangal

Rakesh Dhavan (Akshay Kumar) is one of the craziest characters that I have ever seen. He approaches the media with a laddu on the day of failure. You can see the definition of talent and dedication in him. The way he deals with issues is really entertaining and creative. You might be knowing all this if you have heard the dialogue ‘Poora duniya se kaho, copy that’ from him.

In M.S. Dhoni: The untold story

You don’t need an introduction to our Captain Cool. Even if you don’t watch cricket, by watching only this film, you can understand that Dhoni is a great strategist. Not only in cricket, but also in his life. He doesn’t wait for opportunities; he will go and ask for opportunities.

That’s it!!!

(If not the same characters you go with your favourite characters and study them)

Once you get to know what you are, life feels at ease. The outside world depends on how we deal with our inside world. Our existence on this earth is temporary; the existence of problematic situations in our life is also temporary. Recognize your problems as challenges. It will be tough to deal with those challenges at the beginning. Just believe that divine is preparing you for what you are going to receive in the future.

Dig out your past, define your self and put down your character sketch. Build your present and make a difference in your future. Think like a hero, act like a hero and become the hero of your life. Let your story become a blockbuster movie.
