There are some people who misunderstand self-love with selfishness. But they both are not the same. Not at all.
You are asked to love yourself because you can only share what you have with yourself and within you. You can’t be happy if you can’t love yourself. If you are not happy inside you can never make others happy. Even if you manage to do that temporarily, it won’t last long. You can’t even think that you deserve to receive love from others if you fail to love yourself.
So, next time when you encounter someone confused between self-love and selfishness, educate them. But you never compromise with self-love by listening to them. Why because, if you compromise at loving yourself, you will be compromising at everything in your life.
Love never takes away your happiness from you; Love gives you the strength to achieve whatever you want in your life.
